Hi, Iv had the business platinum card for over 3 months and have triggered the inflated bonus of 80,000 membership points. I’m considering canceling the card for the prorated refund,(which I realise won’t be possible in the future) However I haven’t used the £200 travel credit yet. If I make a booking using the travel credit then cancel the card before the hotel stay/flight. Could this end up causing an issue with the booking?
Also I applied for this card via top cashback which was offering £100 cashback. However after 3 and half months this cashback still hasn’t been paid. Has anyone else waited this length of time for topcashback to pay for an Amex application? Thanks
Pretty certain that I cancelled my Platinum (personal) card after I redeemed the travel credit (but before my stay occurred), and I had no issues. It gets deducted from the price you pay when you book it, so its already ‘redeemed’ before you stay
Re: TCB – they wrongly rejected my last claim so can’t assist
Er … nothing changes with pro-rata refunds on the Business cards, because they are charge cards. Only the credit cards are losing pro-rata refunds.
I definitely cancelled my Plat card after redeeming the travel credit but before staying at the hotel we’d booked – absolutely no issues at all, the hotel just saw it as a normal prepaid booking
