Forums Payment cards American Express Platinum Amex Travel £200 credit

If I book a FHR hotel now, before I have the £200 travel credit on my account, and pay at the hotel after the credit has been applied, can it be used on that booking? Or do you need the credit when you make the reservation?

When it is available it shows in your Amex Travel account with an option to use against a booking if allowed. You will clearly see if successfully applied to a booking.

The travel credit only applies to pre-pay rate not pay at the hotel.

How long does the credit take to show in account and where does it show? I’ve gone as far as checkout page.
I’ve recently opened this card and have received the o dining offers and lounge passes but can’t see the travel credit.
Also re £6000 spend for welcome bonus, is there a tracker for this?

The £200 travel credit is only available once you’ve spent the qualifying £6000.

    Thanks, makes sense now.

Can you use the credit to make a booking for someone else?

Don’t see why not – Amex website lets you input any name for traveller details. Obviously you need to make payment (for the difference above £200) though.

Just don’t book a Fine Hotels & Resorts hotel because you are asking for trouble there, as the guest will not be a Plat cardholder and so not qualifying for the extra benefits.
