My 2024 didn’t include a lot of travel, and alas I’ve got a soft-landing from Bonvoy Platinum to Gold coming up in early March.
I was looking at doing the Platinum Challenge (if it still exists) as I’ve got 16 nights already booked over Feb / March, so would definitely hit the target.
Question is… can I sign-up for the challenge while I’m still Platinum? Or do I have to wait till after my account drops to Gold in early March? Anyone have any experience with this?
Called them, got through the impenetrable robot call tree (it did NOT like me trying to give it a UK postcode), and the answer is No.
Initially the rep thought it would be possible, but the back office team confirmed that the system will not let a current Platinum member enrol in the challenge, even though my downgrade to Gold in early March is inevitable.

At least with the 2x nights promo, which is likely to be announced next week, you are almost certain to qualify for Platinum again.
Assuming the 16 nights will be covered under the promo period, you would only need 3 more nights for Platinum if you have the Bonvoy Amex.So add a few more nights and you can get Platinum quite early in 2025 and have it until end of Feb 2027.
Hi do you have any idea of travel period for the 2x night promo and will it be targeted

It’s been a general promotion open to all over the last few years. No guarantee that it will return this year, nothing has been announced yet. It’s been late Feb to April or early May for the last few years.

The rumours I’ve heard suggest 11/2 to 28/4, but don’t treat that as official!
This would be a global promo rather than targeted one. However, Loyalty Lobby says that some people have just received new targeted promos also (eg bonus points per stay).

Looks like this was announced last night, double elite credits and 1,000 point bonus for every night stayed (only for paid bookings).
A pretty nice period (11th February – 28Th April confirmed).
