I signed up for the platinum card a month ago – my friend referred me. As far as I know if I spend £6000 in the first few months I will get 40,000 (plus 5,000 for referral) plus £400 credit. However, if I look on the membership tab of the app, it says “Spend £2034 in your first 3 months of Cardmembership to receive 0 Membership Rewards points and £400 Amex Travel Credit”.
Why 0 rewards points rather than 45,000? I haven’t held another normal amex card for at least ten years, although I do hold the BA Amex card.
We had the same on my wife’s so she contacted via chat (icon top right of app) and they confirmed indeed it was £400 travel bonus and 40k MRs. I screen printed the conversation. So, nothing to worry about.
They too said something along the lines of “you only have £xxxx of spend to go!” which made me chuckle – spend spend spend to avoid disappointment!
