Forums Other Airport lounges Pre-booking with Priority Pass/LoungeKey query

    Hello all,

Just looking for some clarification regarding pre-booking protocol for Priority Pass and Loungekey.

We are a family of three and I have The Platinum Card with my wife as supplementary. This means that all three of us get into lounges. I also have LoungeKey with my bank credit card with my wife being a supplementary card holder so both my wife and I can get access but we would need to pay for access for our child. As such, we generally use Amex/Priority Pass.

However, I’ve noticed that LoungeKey allows pre-booking of some lounges that my Priority Pass app does not. I have to questions that I wondered if anyone could shed any light on relating to this:

    1. When pre-booking Priority Pass Lounges can I book three places using my account and then have my wife us her Priority Pass card. I visited a lounge earlier in the year and tried to do this but the lounge staff said that the pre-booking for my wife should have been done with her account. Is this correct or does it not technically matter? I don’t know if they would have realised had I not told them or is the pre-booking the thing that triggers the payment and should be done on the accounts you want charged?

    2. Following on, as LoungeKey allows pre-booking of a specific lounge but PP does not, can we pre-book spaces with LoungeKey and the use our PP for at least our child? If we use LoungeKey on our account then that would be classed as a guest visit for our child but with PP they would be included.

    Thanks all!

I don’t think you can swap like this. Where Priority Pass charge a fee for booking, I believe this is a copayment, as PP pay the lounge so little that the provision of access is of marginal value.

Option 2 might work, but that would be by accident rather than design. Worst case scenario would be you having to pay for an extra pass with LoungeAccess but I have no idea about the back end accounting here.
