Preferred bonus received in error

Hi, I have free BA Amex card and recently also applied for the preferred Gold card and received the bonus on the Gold card.
My wife has the BA premium plus card and applied for preferred Gold but did not receive the bonus.
Any idea why or if I have just been lucky with the first!

The eligibility requirements for the bonus on the Gold card are that you have not held any personal Amex in the last 24 months.
As you both currently hold an Amex neither of you were eligible.
Seems like you got lucky.
If you had not had any MR card (Membership Rewards e.g. Gold or Platinum) then you were eligible for the bonus on the Platinum card as the requirements for that are that you should not have had any MR card in the past 24 months. Of course, you are no longer eligible for that as you hold the Gold card.
