I have recently got a BA Premium AMEX card with the 25,000 points signup bonus. I’m getting close to £10,000 spend but would like to hold off triggering the 2 for 1 voucher for a little while yet. I’ve been considering going for a platinum card before the 100,000 bonus points offer finishes on 9th January but was a bit worried that I would struggle to get to the spend requirement within the 6 months.
I’ve been reading about the Premium Rewards payment service today. This would seem like the perfect opportunity to boost platinum spend immediately to £10000 by getting the service to pay £10,000 of my HMRC self assesment bill at the end of January.
Can anyone confirm that a payment of this kind actually counts towards the £10,000 card spend requirement for the bonus, and also that the payment service is definately available on the personal platinum card and that HMRC self assesment payment is OK.
I’m sure premium rewards by Amex was shut down c2 years ago. Billhop stopped as well. Bluechain allow payments via credit card but their Ts+Cs say HMRC payments only allowed via visa and Mastercard for a 2.5% fee
Looks like you are right I continued looking for information after my initial post and there’s nothing to be seen.
I reckon I can just about make £10,000 spend in 6 months to get the reward I’ll just have to get a bit creative. Council Tax and rent at COOP paypoint will get me well on the way. The other option will be to just wait and see what the new offer is after 9th January. Maybe it’ll be less bonus points with a lower spend requirement.
