Hi all my flight from Phuket to London got cancelled (due to a technical difficulty) and subsequently missed my connecting Doha to London flight.
Am I entitled to flight compensation?
Delay: 24 hours
Flight 1: Phuket to Doha cancelled
Flight 2: rescheduled due to the cancellation
Im confused if Im entitled to compensation?
UK261 legislation only applies to UK/EU airlines starting a journey outside the EU, so on the face of it no compensation is due under those rules. However, I’m not sure if things are slightly different if your cancelled flight was itself part of a booking which originated in the EU. From reports here, though, additionally, QR are extremely difficult to deal with when something like this happens!
NL even if this was part of a booking where the outbound was from the UK/EU the regulation still wouldn’t apply to distinct flight(s) back to the UK/EU
So @Mdjay is in the hands of QR and their policies on compo / duty of care.
You should check your travel / home / credit card insurance to see what they offer in terms of reimbursement of hotel costs and / or disruption payments.
As above, neither UK261 nor EC261 applies to flights from a third country on a third country carrier, even if those flights are the return of a booking originating in the UK or EU on the same PNR. You need to rely on any local regulations, the airline or insurance.
