Question on moving to Platinum

Hi all, Looking for a hand on my Amex card strategy. I have the BAPP, my first Amex from when the 75k bonus was offered earlier this year, and triggered the voucher recently. I am interested in the Platinum card given the increased sign-up bonus introduced, but will take a lot of effort to hit the £10k spend!

My questions are:

If I downgrade from BAPP to Blue, is there any difference in doing this before applying for the Platinum, or best to wait until accepted?

Am I missing anything that I should be considering?

Downgrading will not have any impact. You can even ask for a retention bonus before downgrading.
What will matter is your credit limit. If it’s too high relative to your income, your platinum application might be declined.
