Name: London Victoria Park Plaza Hotel
    City: London, UK
Upgraded? Yes, to a slightly larger room
    Lounge Access: Not offered
    Service: 5/10
    Overall rating for price: 4/10
Comments: Prepaid for an in-room extra, which never materialised. It took over three months and numerous phone calls and emails to recover the cost. I noticed yesterday that the stay has not registered in the app and no points were awarded (the stay was in late-January).
I will not be back to that or any other Raddision.

This has happened to me once. After a lot of digging I think it was because I had changed my email address after booking but before staying. I think there’s other reasons as well, but best to make sure the same email address as on your Radisson profile is used at all stages of the stay.

    Name: Victoria Park Plaza
    City: London
Upgraded? Yes, from a Superior Room King (there are no rooms options lower than a superior, as far as I am aware) to a two-bedroom apartment. A lovely space with a twin room and a double room, as well as a lounge with sofa bed, dining room and kitchenette plus bathroom and a second separate toilet. Top floor and decent views across the city.
Lounge Access: I believe there is no lounge, but welcome letter included vouchers for a drink each (bottled beer only though, nothing from the taps)
    Breakfast: Yes, a decent spread.
Welcome gift: No gifts, just the large upgrade and a handwritten envelope with the welcome letter/drinks vouchers.
Early / Late check-in/out: Arrived around 2pm and were given keys immediately. Didn’t ask for a late checkout as needed to be on the road by 10am.
    Stay duration: 1 night

Good location with Victoria station practically on the doorstep. Could hear nothing from within the hotel, but some exterior noise was audible. Given the number of events in town on Saturday night (Iron Maiden at London Stadium, Linkin Park at Wembley Stadium and Zach Bryan at Hyde park – all sold out) we were amazed we managed to get a room centrally at all and the rate wasn’t bad. The upgrade was our best so far and will be hard to beat. Radisson VIP still doing well for us, although need to track a recent stay that hasn’t credited yet.

    Name: Radisson Blu Olümpia
    City: Tallinn
Upgraded? Yes to a Premium Room
    Lounge Access: N/A
    Service: 6/10
    Overall rating for price: 7/10
    Late checkout: not needed
Comments: This was a 4-night stay. VIP membership not acknowledged, but saw an upgrade in the app. Surprising given I emailed them in advance to discuss upgrade to suite (free if available). Complained, the receptionist said he’s not empowered to give a suite upgrade (hotel was half empty). He did give the best premium room they had. The room, and the hotel decor are dated (I knew that when booking, but they have plenty rooms and suites so upgrade should theoretically be easy to get). Manager no where to be seen. They seem completely understaffed. The hotel has history as Tallinn hosted water sports for 1980 Moscow Olympics (hence the name). Two apples and chocolates for welcome gift. Breakfast awful, salmon in particular. The only thing decent were cottage cheese pancakes with sour cream. Spa- very good with decent-sized pool. Would not stay again. It was cheap at £62 per night.

    Name: Radisson Collection Astorija
    City: Vilnius
Upgraded? Yes to a 1-bedroom suite with balcony (corner)
    Lounge Access: N/A
    Service: 9/10
    Overall rating for price: 9/10
    Late checkout: till 1:30pm
Comments: Beautifully renovated property, nice overall room design. Acknowledged as VIP. Suite wasn’t ready at 2pm, but was at check-in. Breakfast was small, but very good with free à la carte options. Plenty of local breakfast items to try as well. Room – this corner suite which seems only reserved for upgrades has a smallish bathroom (no double vanity, small shower). It’s quite odd as they could have made it bigger as there is unnecessary corridor leading from the bedroom to bathroom. Spa – it’s a bit of a joke as it’s in the basement with poor signage. Small pool, slightly bigger than plunge pool with counter current option and adjacent jacuzzi. There are only a few loungers between pool/jacuzzi area and the gym equipment. Small sauna. Lockers in the mens locker room don’t lock and the toilet in men’s lockers out of order. Spa needs to be renovated urgently as it does not live up to the rest of the hotel. A bit stingy with the late check-out as asked for 2pm, they said 1pm, then immediately after seeing me rolling eyes said 1:30pm latest. Would probably stay again.

    Radisson Blu Hotel, Cardiff

Membership was recognised at check in counter

Upgrades? yes from standard room to Junior Suite

Lounge? yes accessible for all VIP and is situated in a section of the 1st floor

Welcome gift? 2 bottles of still water.

    Late check out? 1pm

(The only negative would be the lifts since suites are on the higher floors and only 2 elevators available so you will be waiting for a while for your lift to arrive)

    Park Inn by Radisson, Cardiff

Membership was recognised at check in counter early check in granted from 10am

Upgrades? yes to a room with A/C (Staff mentioned that there are only 10 rooms with A/C and the rest have no A/C so you will need to request a desk fan)

    Lounge? No

Welcome gift? 2 bottles of still water.

    Late check out? Not required

(Restaurant closed for sitting in if you want dinner they only use the restaurant for breakfast and the room with A/C are the rooms that peek into the lobby. You’ll know what I mean when you get there)

Lounge Access: Yes, but didn’t use
Welcome Gift: Chocolate + Small Vodka

Comments: Paid ~£140, but got ~£220 in extras (upgrade + early check-in), so definitely worth it!

Any recommendations for the Glasgow Blu or Red hotels as VIP? The Red is cheaper, but location less convenient – so by the time I’ve paid for the odd taxi I’ll have spent about the same

Depending on what you’re planning on doing, they are only a 10/15 min walk from each other.

I’ve stayed at both (reviews on pages 9 and 10 here). No lounge at either, but Blu is more upmarket to me, and they upgraded me from lowest level room to a corner suite, whereas Red upgraded just to what they call an Executive room.
If there’s anything on at the Hydro or SEC when you stay the Red will be very busy. It does however have a nice rooftop bar in the evenings.
Breakfasts at both very similar standard.
Red is at the SEC complex which has its own station (Exhibition), so you wouldn’t have to rely on taxi/uber etc to go into the centre.

Upgraded? Sort of, same room type but with a river rhine view
    Lounge Access: none available
    Welcome Gift: none
Late check out : Declined (Stated they full the next day)
    Overall rating for price: 7/10
Comments: Modern Hotel, but looking a bit tired in places. Breakfast was a highlight, but you don’t get many benefits with VIP status here.

Did you receive the upgrade at the check-in, or were you notified earlier via the app? In the second case, how many days before?

    Radisson Blu Hamburg Airport

Membership was recognised at check in counter

Upgrades? Yes, booked Standard and upgraded up to top tier (Premium), albeit not to a suite

    Lounge? No

Welcome gift? Had a card saying ‘enjoy your welcome gift’ but no gift was there! Checked in at 11pm so did not chase.

Breakfast – typical German buffet, would have cost €22 each for cash

    Late check out? Not required

Was amused to receive 300 points for the stay (bill was only €33 as part paid on points) meaning I now have 45p to put towards my next stay 🙂

Price literally halved between booking and stay date (€280 to €140) as a note to all those people who think I’m mad for always booking refundable rates ….

I recently spent 6 nights in Berlin. As an experiment to test the benefits of my new free VIP membership for the first time I booked one night at each of six different Radisson hotels in the city. Not ideal as standard check-out was 12pm and check-in 3pm and of course I’d be living out of a suitcase as it would be hardly worth unpacking.
In each case I booked the cheapest room offered on the App Only rate, with Discount Booster set to On (having checked for each booking that this was the cheapest option). My room types changed on the app to reflect an upgrade, usually two days before each stay.
I requested an early check-in or late check-out at some hotels but then opted in most cases for just leaving my luggage for the day and collecting it later.
I was very satisfied with the results and Radisson will now be my go-to hotel brand for as long as I retain VIP status!

    Hotel Berlin, Berlin (Radisson Individual)

Check in was by tablet. The screen said Room Only but my VIP breakfast benefit was confirmed by a member of staff who had spotted me looking perplexed. You programme your own key cards!

Upgraded? Yes. Booked Cosy Small and app later said Std Room however from the hotel photo gallery I believe that I might have been upgraded to a One Bedroom Suite (the bathroom in the photo was almost certainly mine). The room had a living area overlooking the sleeping area, which was on a lower level.

Lounge? Not mentioned and I didn’t ask

Welcome gift? Drink voucher, water, jar of smoky almonds

Breakfast – decent German buffet in a large area made up of adjoining rooms; very busy

    Late check out? Not required

Comments – I arrived late in the evening, tired from the very high temperature that day. Nevertheless, I made my way down to the bar for a free beer. The bar area was fairly dimly lit, with lots of potted greenery and a DJ playing in one corner. There was also a large table tennis room with several tables for hotel guests.

Park Plaza Berlin (south of Ku’damm)

Membership was recognised at check in counter by the very friendly staff. My e-mailed request for an early check-in was acknowledged and I was offered a choice of waiting for my room to be made ready (I arrived before 1pm) or leaving my luggage (an option confirmed to me in advance). I opted to wait in the quiet bar area and my room was ready for me around 1pm. I left to meet a friend for the day and didn’t get back until after midnight, safe in the knowledge that my room and luggage were waiting for me!

Upgrades? Yes. Booked Superior Room and upgraded to an Executive Room.

Lounge? Not mentioned and I didn’t ask

Welcome gift? Personalised welcome card, nice fruit selection, cake, water

Breakfast – decent German buffet in an airy room; not too busy

Late check out? Not required. Left luggage for free, to collect later

Radisson Collection, Berlin (next to the Dom)

Membership was recognised at the check in counter by the very friendly, helpful staff member Rafael

Upgrades? Yes. Booked Collection Room, upgraded in app to Collection Room – Atrium View. Maybe because I’m very tall Rafael proactively contacted Housekeeping to check that my 5th Floor room could be configured as a King bed. When they were unable to confirm he switched me to a Collection Premium Room with Balcony – Cathedral Room on the 2nd floor. It was very pleasant to sit out on my balcony in the sun looking at the Dom, Schloss / Humboldt Forum and the river boats

Lounge? Not mentioned and I didn’t ask

Welcome gift? Due to the last-minute change of room, there were no welcome gifts in the room other than water

Breakfast – good German buffet, with a la carte options and very friendly table service, in the nice, large hotel restaurant; quite busy

Late check out? Not required. Left luggage for free, to collect later

    Thanks! Booked for the Blu

Radisson Blu Glasgow was very good – thanks. Got upgraded from a standard room to a junior suite (a little small for a junior suite, but very nice). Got free breakfast and some chocolate dipped strawberries, and 2pm checkout. Room service breakfast was pretty good quality – excellent cheese, and you can order off menu things like eggs Benedict and pancakes. Service was good throughout. On the downside, no lounge (AFAIK) and pool was out of order. I’d be very happy going back, but would compare prices with the Glasgow voco and indigo.
