Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Radisson Rewards Radisson Rewards VIP Status

  • dundj 127 posts

Per Loyalty Lobby, by using this link you will be able to become a VIP (top level) status member at Radisson Rewards for 1 year if you already hold an account, or two years if it is a new account.

Don’t worry if it states there has been an error as mine was updated instantly.

Worth mentioning that whilst Radisson Rewards is a pretty poor loyalty programme, they do have some decent hotels and the ‘free’ VIP status granted through this opportunity provides some good benefits including: free upgrade to the best room category, breakfast for 2, and access to exclusive VIP areas in selected hotels (e.g. The “BLU Lounge” at Radisson Blu, Oulu, Finland).

So effectively anyone can become a VIP.

Imagine how poor the business must be if they are offering the benefits to everyone.

Hyatt / Hilton – can you just buy or takeover the Radisson UK properties and put them out of misery?

@BBbetter I’d prefer either to buy out the whole non-Americas portfolio to be honest, would make Scandinavia a good place for both loyalty programs on top of adding a lot to the UK.

They were not supposed to be offering it to anyone. There is a personal code attached and I imagine poor IT resulted in people being able to sign up with different accounts. It is an offer for select SAS members who received the code. Once they realise the scale, they might remove status.

Well that was easy and it worked. I’m now a Radisson VIP! Thanks 😀

Thanks OP! I wonder what will happen when they take away the VIP status after it gets widespread use… will I go back to premium because of the Amex platinum or will they downgrade everyone to club

Even if you go down to Club, quick call to Amex and you’ll get the status back to Premium. It’s a published and core benefit of Amex Platinum so they must offer it to you.

If they do revoke this and you’ve made a booking do you not get the benefits? Do you need to be VIP as of the date of stay?

You would almost certainly only receive the benefits as per your membership level as at the time of stay.

The code is invalid now sadly.

You would have to pay me to set foot in one of their properties after the devaluation

Feel sorry for the front desk staff. Imagine if more than half the customers checking in are VIPs, all expecting an upgrade to a suite! Even worse, none having to pay for breakfast!

In fact, this makes it even worse if you have a stay coming up and you havent managed to upgrade to VIP. The status from Amex plat will be useless!

The link above was in effect for new registrations to get 2 years of VIP.

The link below is for 1 year of VIP for existing users and just worked for me a couple of minutes ago.

Devalues my hard-earned VIP status somewhat… Well at least the incompetence is unsurprising.

Someone shared it on Hot UK Deals as well, so I am not even gonna bother to sign up, and just stick with other chains …

Just annoyed I have a 4 night non-ref with Rocketmiles at a Rad Blu coming up but the 7000 United miles will compensate. My timing is always wrong.

Is there a list of which radissons have lounges?

One of the benefits of elite status is the ability to ‘Activate the Discount Booster’ option to use up your points balance quickly/.

Most recent link posted above still works as of just now for both me and Mrs GT although unsurprisingly their IT is a car crash & both times required a clunky password reset…

An added bonus is that about £170 worth of points have been added to my previously empty account coincidentally (?) today for a stay somewhere I haven’t been since January 2020.

I managed to avoid the unannounced devaluation by burning all the COVID points I bought on a fantastic value Maldives redemption, so for me Radisson Rewards is the gift that keeps on giving!

@slidey, not to my knowledge, and I’ve been actively trying to find such a list. The best way to go (rudimentary, I know) is to look at their room types. If a hotel has a lounge they’ll offer an “Executive room with lounge access”. I’ve only ever seen a lounge at Radisson Blu’s, so AFAIK you needn’t even look if it’s another brand.

I did the upgrade but my previous 4 stays / 5 night disappeared from the counter. I would be surprised if they actually honour this but lets see.

    Jamz 16 posts

That’s weird, I’ve actually had a few extra nights and stays credited to my account that were previously not there!

    kevinchoi 104 posts

I’ve also done the upgrade and my existing 3 stays/3 nights counter has disappeared.

My next stay at a Radisson is in November (in a hotel which i know has an executive lounge) so hoping for the best.
