Forums Payment cards American Express Referral Avios not received

I recommended someone for the BA Amex using the link which was accepted with no problem.
I was told that I’d receive my bonus Avios 8 weeks later which should have been last Tuesday but still nothing.
I’ve also messaged Amex who said to wait another two weeks to see if they arrive but I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen at all?

When it’s delayed this long something has usually gone wrong and you’ll need to ask Amex to investigate. They may say the correct link wasn’t used, in which case it’s extremely helpful if you took a screenshot of it or have a confirmation email about it. Good luck!

Thank you for your reply. That’s exactly what’s happened! I was on the live chat with someone for nearly an hour and they were trying to say that I’d sent the wrong link to the person I’d recommended ( a quick copy and paste of the one I used soon proved otherwise) and then they told me to wait another 8-10 business days for my 1k Avios! ( Er no, it’s actually 4k and another screenshot again proved my point)
    It’s going to be a long process…….

I’m in a similar position waiting on three referrals. I spoke to AMEX via chat yesterday who claimed to have found them and will post in the next two weeks… I’m still a bit dubious if this is true but will wait and see

Never use chat for anything other than completely basic queries. Always call, and whoever you get through to, ask them if they’re UK based. If they’re not, ask to be transferred to a UK rep (don’t even bother going through the process of explaining your issue until you’re speaking to a UK rep). Despite what overseas reps say, UK reps have a combination of better understanding of the UK products, better access to AMEX systems (less likely to need to send stuff “to the back office” as they can deal with it themselves) and better training.

Thank you for your reply. I will wait the recommended 8-10 business days and if no luck I will ring as you suggested.

There have been a lot of issues with the tracking of referrals in the last few months, unfortunately.

I hope you get yours sorted soon

That’s not good for such a huge company is it?
