Refund of Avios redemption no longer automatic?

I cancelled a business class redemption to Sao Paulo online on the website. This was booked using a Barclays upgrade voucher.
It asked me to fill out a form, and upon submission I received an email stating that the cancellation is being processed, but without an indication of how much is being refunded. This immediately made me nervous…
Under previous cancellations they would show a confirmation screen showing exactly how much cash is to be refunded before you hit the button. Has the process changed?
This is a recent change. They make you fill a form as if it was some sort of manual process but you will get the avios and cash (minus £35) soon enough. (Usually 24hrs or even less)
Cancelled a regular redemption last week and itcwas “normal” perhaps Barclays voucher is the differential?
