Refunded transaction from previous year, what effect on companion spend target.

Just a quick one. Does anyone know what effect refunding a transaction from a previous collection year has on the current years companion voucher spend target? Does it reduce the amount spent in the current card year? or are Amex’s systems smart enough to know its a refund from the previous year?

Usually there’s no tracking of refunds vs. original transactions.
So a refund is just a credit you receive in the current cycle. So it affects the amount you then need to spend this year.
