Hi all
I fly a lot to and within Asia and will always try to fly with BA or a one world partner. I’m BA gold and so when I fly with Cathay / JAL / Qantas etc I’ll book as a guest on their website and then add my BA number on the booking. The tier points and avios then flow into my BA account as normal. However, I have never registered an account with Cathay/ JAL / Qantas etc (I always book as a guest) as I’m worried that if I do register, I’ll earn tier points with them as opposed to BA. So my question to you all is can I register and still earn BA tier points (rather than the other airline points)? I’d like to register, as I have typically book trips with multiple legs with each carrier, and it would be useful to have them all listed in their app. Cathay, for example, only lets me view one flight without registering. Any thoughts appreciated. Thank you!
I have accounts with Cathay, Royal Jordanian, AA and Qatar. Typically credit to BAEC or Cathay – no issues to date.
You just have to remember to change your frequent flyer programme to BA
For example if you register with CX as you say it will automatically put your CX number in bookings but you can easily change it
I’m too afraid of the flights crediting to other schemes so I track all my flights on the Tripcase app by Sabre.

But you can’t link Amadeus PNRs on TripCase and even though they can be manually added or added by email, they won’t update like a Sabre one.
The answer is to get the relevant airline to add the relevant FF number for its benefits and if you wish to accumulate TP/miles (or their equivalents) in a different programme to add that FF number separately. BA seems to find this concept slightly challenging unless you get a slightly old school/experienced agent but other OW airlines like CX, JL or QR will find it very easy.
I’d never hand PNRs to a third party. All my Tripcase flights are entered manually using the flight number. They all update as expected and no data breach risk.

In this instance, with manual import, TripCase will update your flight, but not your booking if eg seating is changed, FF number bounced out or in wrong field. MyFlights sorely missed!
