Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Return on Companion Voucher

  • 6 posts

I managed to grab a LHR – MLE ticket online using the companion voucher. If I manage to nab a return flight online (using all Avios) will I be able to add this to the outbound for the refund or do I need to have booked this on the phone for this option to be available (couldn’t get through on phone in time)?
    Thanks

    “nab” is a new one.

I think I’ll insert it into my list, somewhere between snag and bag.

EDIT: in regards to your actual question, the last time I blagged some tickets online for the outbound, I phoned BA when the inbound became available and they worked their magic and I got the appropriate refund that way.

It doesn’t get added to the outbound, it stays as a separate booking, but BA will refund the 50% avios. Make sure payment card details match on both bookings, they seem to be scrutinising details like this at the moment.

So for a first timer here also trying to “nab” a ticket. I buy for example LHR-SIN 355 days out with new style 241. Then 10 days later I buy return at FULL AVIOS. Call BA and they will refund 50% off the second flight?

Yes, though occasionally an agent will refuse and you will need to try again with another one. Don’t ask them to do anything like combining the bookings, just say that you booked your outbound when it was released so you had to wait to book the inbound and would they very kindly refund half the avios. Have both booking references to hand, plus the details of the card you paid on – they will ask for the last 4 digits. Plus numerous other security questions!
