Discuss today's stories:
I was watching Noel Philips’ latest video (a long rant about BA basically) and he claimed cancelling an Avios Redemption no longer returns the points to you.

Is this news I’ve missed? Or is it more likely he tripped up on something – either used part pay with Avios or cancelled the ticket too close to departure?
Sounds to me like he was cancelling inside 24 hours? I haven’t seen anything else that would suggest there’s been a change.
Yes – seems to be saying he used to be able to cancel an avios booking on the day of travel for a refund, but I’ve never known this to be the case.
Did sound odd to me… Maybe he was relying on an IT glitch that’s more been fixed?
Pretty sure he is wrong & if so, it is bad that someone with his size of audience to post misinformation.
It is a very much slate BA video in order to generate views.

Why would you pay any attention to this person and spread false information in this manner with this thread? It’s totally irresponsible by the YouTuber and those that lap up his totally erroneous waffle. Such a change to Avios/BA(E)C requires three months notice and you could be quite sure that you would hear it here before any influencer/vlogger reported it.
I’m intrigued as to why anyone listens to this clown. What does he bring to the party?
As a poster here has given him some credence, I looked at the video linked above on fast mode. The guy has obviously done very well to monetise this but there’s just no content – more waffle than BA’s brunch. It’s so slow and he repeats himself endlessly, makes this false assertion re Avios refunds and appears to be unaware that brunchgate is over, so as well as being boring it’s totally misleading.
The whole video at normal speed is almost 30 mins yet imparts far less than an HfP two to three minute read article. Who has time for that? And what did they learn?
To follow on from JDB, once you find a flight reviewer (print or video) who shares your sensibilities, you hold them close and tight. I don’t need whizz bang camera work, racing colleagues or clickbait drama video titles tyvm.
more waffle than BA’s brunch
Thank you for this. Thank you.
Why would you… spread false information in this manner with this thread?
Questioning the accuracy of some information (while actively suggesting it’s actually a basic mistake) is neither spreading false information nor giving the youtuber “credence”. In fact it’s pretty much the opposite of that! Sorry it annoyed you though…

Too true! Don’t worry, I’ve never considered Noel in this category.
Theres a quick and easy way to determine if a youtuber is most likely going to be garbage or not.
If theyre making a face that looks like they are an eater of crayons on the intro pic, youre probably safe to skip it.
This guy fails the crayon test.
I’d never heard of him – I was thinking of Noel Fielding 😂

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who though that and he should stick to cakes.
