Hi all
I’m wondering if anyone else has had “false positives” with using Reward Flight Finder? I’m trying to find LHR-MCO availability in J for 2 pax (using a BAPP companion voucher) for September/October/November. Reward Flight Finder shows pretty decent availability for 2+ J seats for both legs in September, and ok availability for October (better inbound than outbound), nothing really in November.
However, when I look on ba.com, selecting 2 pax and my companion voucher, there seems to be absolutely no J availability on either leg from August to the end of the year. Has anybody had a similar experience? I’m using the free version of Reward Flight Finder and I’m not particularly minded to pay for a subscription if this is how inaccurate they are.
Alternatively, does anyone have any experiences with using SeatSpy? I’d be willing to pay for a subscription to set up alerts etc., but again I’m dubious about paying for a subscription if they’re this far off in terms of accuracy…
Any insight / experiences would be helpful!
RFF is notoriously unreliable. Sometimes it’s a week or more behind in showing which flights have been released and often shows more availability than is actually on BAEC. SeatSpy is supposed to be better currently, after some teething problems.
Also – I think most MCO departures are from LGW, which may be an issue with your searches, though ba.com does usually show all London departures when you start a booking. RFF shows all London availability so you then have to check on ba.com for specific airports.
E.g. ba.com is showing 2 J seats available outbound on October 26th from LGW.

Would recommend you use Seatspy. I had an alert set up for 2 business class seat to SFO. Got an email at 17.37pm tonight called BA Silver , got through in 5 mins and secured the seats. Well worth the subscription

Definitely second the seatspy recommendation. You pay monthly so it’s not a massive outlay and as soon as you have what you need you can cancel, so it can be very cost effective. You might even be lucky and get a seat released during you free trial period.
Thanks all, that’s very helpful. From the looks of it, my main issue was (as NorthernLass says) wrongly thinking that the MCO departures would be from LHR and not LGW! For some reason I had it in my head that the LGW long-haul routes were all Caribbean / Mexico, although with that said Reward Flight Finder is still showing incorrect levels of availability on some of the dates.
Also good to know that Seatspy is worth the subscription – will definitely be looking into it!
