Hi All
I was one of the “original” gold sparrows and mine is due to expire in August this year. I am only likely to complete around 14 segments on BA before that time – I believe this isn’t enough segments to maintain the status? I have seen 10 and 26 segments – I am assuming 10 is for RJ metal and 26 is for any other OW airline but it isn’t very clear.
Does anyone have any plans or ideas for maintaining OW Sapphire once we get to August?
10 segments is incorrect, there is a requirement to fly at least 10 segments on RJ for gold and 20 for platinum, but that has (temporarily) been eased. All 26 for gold or 40 for platinum can now be flown on any OW airline. Do however use the “earn miles” calculator on the RJ site to be certain the booking class falls in an earning category before making a reservation.
Don’t know how many you have already taken and what your travel patterns look like, but August is still very far away. You could mileage run but if I had so much time left I’d just do a handful of connecting weekends. Ever been to Rovaniemi?
