Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club RJ Silver Jay to Oneworld Ruby/BA Bronze

  • 7 posts

    Hi,

Conscious that there is another thread going on this, however couldn’t find an answer to this specific question, so hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance

I took advantage of the Royal Jordan offer and now have “silver jay” status, which I understand translates to Oneworld Ruby and BA Bronze

What is unclear to me, is how I can practically change/upgrade my BA status (I also have a flight with Qatar later this year, so would like to upgrade my status to Silver with them)

On the other thread, it appears there is a rather convoluted way via Finnish Air but again (probably my fault) on precisely the steps required to take.

Are the one world systems sufficiently linked that I can expect my various “status levels” to update in the coming days or is there a process I’m required to follow ?

    Any help is appreciate
    Thanks
    S

Without wanting to sound too harsh, the inference from your post is that you’ve read the other thread on this topic. If you had done so properly you’d have the answers the your questions – one method is even set out in your post.

In short, if you want to benefit from your RJ status benefits on BA booking then you need to attach your RJ FF number to the BA booking. The various methods for doing so, and whether they are currently working or not, are all set out in the other thread. Your status with BA, or any other Oneworld carrier, will not change.

Quite, and to be clear, as Grant says – this does not change your BA status if that’s what you mean.

Your Oneworld Ruby dictates your benefits but having Oneworld Ruby does not mean your BA status changes to Oneworld Ruby equivalent (bronze).

Been said but probably not as clear as it needs to be your status is only with RJ if you want to use any of the benefits you have to change your loyalty number to the RJ one.

If your flights are cash flights then you will
Need to change the loyalty number back to the programme you want to earn tier points with ie BA if it’s a reward flight it probably doesn’t matter and just leave it as it is.

Hence why people are talking about using the Finnair or RAM site to change loyalty numbers on bookings.

As the above comments clearly outlined. RJ silver, doesn’t give you BA bronze. It only gives the benefits of BA bronze if you add RJ frequent flyer number to your BA bookings. So you can select seats for free 7 days before the flights.

If you want to get BA avois and tier points for a cash booking, it’s best to change the frequent flyer numbers back to your BA numbers at online checkin or check in counter at the airport. For reward bookings, it doesn’t matter if you change it back or not as you won’t earn any avios anyway.

I added RJ gold to my BA avois economy ticket yesterday, the boarding pass shows oneworld sapphire priority and I was able to use the fast track security and the lounge with my economy ticke by Just scanning the boarding pass.

People who have spent £1000s on tier points runs may not think this RJ status matching a good thing. But they may want/hope RJ does this status match again when their status expires.
