Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Round The World using a BA Amex 2 for 1

  • 32 posts

We have accumulated enough Avios to consider a CW rtw trip. I did search for this on the forum and got no results. Even better if we could use a 2 for 1 voucher. Any advice or gas anyone had a good experience trying to find routes and availability?

Not round the world but there is a recent thread about multi carrier redemptions. I think you could have a 2 for 1 for your first and last legs (using BA). Then a multi carrier for the middle bit?

Yes I did this back in 2018 although not 100% on Avios it was on points.

2-4-1 used for the outbound on a F redemption UK to Tokyo.
Used Avios points from Tokyo to Honolulu.
Used FlyingBlue points from Honolulu to LA.
2-4-1 return leg in CW to the UK from LA.

Did UK-TYO then LAX-UK comply with the open-jaw rules?

This could open up some other routes? But can you do open jaw and mix n match?

It seems so, but then you get very high surcharges from recent comments.

It doesn’t. Not sure how OP booked this. It has to be SFO and either agent who booked him made a mistake or they booked separately legs and called to get half Avios refunded and paid higher surcharges.

I don’t think Iberia flies to Asia any longer so it’s not possible to do RTW with them.

May I ask roughly how many millions?

You don’t need millions. Have a look at multi-carrier award chart. You can also do a simple business RW with ANA for 115k points. That would equate to 276k Marriott points.

NRT vs HND perhaps? NRT is just inside, HND is just outside.

YVR also works on the West Coast.

But BA service to NRT has been terminated, so not possible.
