Day trip to Glasgow yesterday and booked the absolutely cheapest seats in CE some weeks ago. I really did not want to travel at 07:10 and so used the Same day change benefit and rebooked on the 10:40 at nearly 3 times the fare.
Once I had done what was necessary I did the same on the return and this time to a flight where fares were £461 one way. It worked very well and I saved a fortune both in terms and my time and money.
Food was meh on both flight but the crew were excellent with the crew going up being particularly good and giving the best PA (clear concise and without the usual ughs) I boarded last on both flights and both left on time so perhaps the new boarding adherence is starting to work
I’ve had great success using the same day change feature as well. It is a brilliant feature for tickets that qualify.
But several times I’ve also had to fly on my original schedule because the flight I really wanted was fully booked.
You should be prepared to take your originally booked flight in case you can’t switch.
If your not prepared to fly on the cheapo first outbound or the last inbound as booked then don’t book these flights.
Just out of interest, can you do same day change with BA Holidays? I’ve got a few domestic segments booked which might benefit from being moved later or earlier!

I’ve tried and it’s a “no”.
SDC is only available for simple point to point short haul economy+ and CE cash fares (using avios to discount the cash fare is fine)
Is there a page with the details of how this works somewhere?
Never mind, I’m sure I’ll cope – looking forward to trying the lounges at GLA and NCL!
@leggyblonde – if you google “BA same day change”, loads of info will pop up.
Recently upgraded economy to business via offer on app. Got to airport early and tried to do SDC. There were CE seats available on earlier flight, but we were told it was not possible to do SDC on flights upgraded this way.
As @northernlass says …. Just means more time in the lounge!

Oh drat, I was advised on a call with a BAH advisor that this could be done. Maybe I will give BAH a call on the day and see.

Try in the app. I got lucky with this once managing to switch an upgraded fare off BA metal and onto a codeshare. Should not have been possible!

Will definitely try that next time. I was quite happy to enjoy the extra time in a relatively quiet lounge. OH wasn’t!
