Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Shanghai – Booking 2 – Good “On Line Chat” Experience

  • 19 posts

    Made another 2-4-1 booking LHR to PVG – out 4Feb and back 13 Feb. Two days after making the booking BA cancelled (proximity to Chinese New Year – presumably a commercial decision) the return flight. I called BA customer services and they said the only options were to cancel or take the flight on Feb 14.

    Remembering advice from @JDB and @Lady London, when I had problem with my last “cancelled Shanghai flight” I went on the “on line chat” to get everything in writing before sending BA a “LBA”.

    The “chat agent” was so helpful and provided a CX/BA or QR/BA option – same day travel which we took (the QR/BA one as timing was better). So didn’t need to send a “LBA”.

    Outcome was good, but the BA UK based call centre really need to improve their game!!! Perhaps the “chat agents” are worth giving a try if you get nowhere with the BA call centre.

    Good result, well done. Chat never seems to be available when I have needed it.

    @mark29 – I’m glad you got that resolved without a fight! It makes me hope BA will cancel our flights – we booked last week to fly out to Beijing and back from Shanghai in October. The return is 14h30 (3 hours longer than it used to be) in old club on a 787-9, so I will also probably be quite annoyed when BA staff are in Flub. My wife has sort of tolerated BA up to now, particularly as they fly to places direct, but her four recent Club Suite flights have left her very anti BA (particularly when I was on QR on a separate trip) and willing to consider many alternative routings/airlines. We got lucky with EZE cancellations to move to Iberia.

    My experience has always been the other way around – Chat are awful and the UK-based agents excellent. But good result for you, @mark29.

    @JDB
    , we got Flubbed a few years ago going to GCM – the other pax in the cabin were the captain’s wife and kids! He seemed to spend a lot of the flight in there with them but did create quite the party atmosphere by raiding the Club Kitchen every so often and handing out biscuits.
