I can’t think where else to put this but I think it’s a pretty big deal!

Why on earth can’t this be done everywhere? Though I would have thought the Americans would be having a hissy fit about any meddling with the rules!

I think that some of the screening machines that make this possible are already installed at Heathrow and will be rolled out further; the requirement to update the systems was delayed by the DoT at the start of the covid outbreak as the capital cost and training costs etc. is huge.

They have these new scanners at AMs and have had them for a few years now. Much easier and less faff.

Indeed, Amsterdam had them last time I was there, so pre covid.

You just need to write to Heathrow and ask them to spend a few quid on new scanners.

Just flown through Phoenix and Atlanta (International Terminal) and they both had machines from different suppliers where you just put your bag in the tray, laptops, liquids, everything left inside it. No issues.

Atlanta domestic terminal a fortnight ago, old scanners, got ripped apart and rescanned my can of peanuts and my phone. Delayed me nearly 20 mins Roll on more of the new ones.
