Shopping through BA and paying with vouchers

Can anyone confirm please if you collect Avios successfully, when going through shopping.ba.com but PAYING for the purchase using a gift voucher?
The wording is ambiguous in the terms as it says you may not receive Avios when using voucher or discount CODES.
I would like to pay full price for an item by using a gift voucher previously purchased.

I tried with John Lewis and the Avios were declined. I guess it could vary by retailer.

Varies by retailer.
For example h&m gets declined, but Argos is fine.

It never tracks for me when I use a gift card.

Also I never had issues using a code with John Lewis if the purchase tracks. If it doesn’t and you make a claim they won’t accept the claim.
