Hi,
I’ve got a few questions about being a silver member, any help would be much appreciated.
1) Can silver members also use airport lounges such as Aspire when flying economy? I’ve looked at this on BAs website and it’s a little confusing as it says you can, but when searching for the lounges and looked at Manchester Airport T3 for example, it says only business and first class can use it as well as Sapphire and Emerald members. Doesn’t say anything about Silver and Gold members using it.
2) My partner’s dad booked flights for us both to see him in Florida back in June. We’re flying in 3 weeks with Aer Lingus in economy. Can I use my silver benefits for this flight at all? If so how would I do this as he booked the tickets from a travel agent. It’d be great if we could benefit from the extra luggage/weight and or lounges, but not sure how executive club works with Aer Lingus (if at all).
Thank you in advance 🙂
BA silver = One World Sapphire
If the designated lounge at a particular airport is an Aspire then you shouldn’t have any issues entering when flying on BA but it’s not carte blanche to use them any any airport

tells me that for MAN BA uses the T3 Escape Lounge
Aer Lingus is not part of one world so your BA silver won’t get you anything.
Ah yes sorry my mistake it is Escape Lounge, not aspire.
That’s a shame about Aer Lingus, but thank you. I still don’t quite understand why BAEC can’t be used with them even though they’re owned by the same company. But I guess there’s a few people wondering the same…
Thanks again 👍🏻

Its simple, Aer Lingus are not part of the One World alliance as BA Flyer. IHG Stayer stated. Ownership is irrelevant.
To be fair, the question on Aer Lingus is not entirely silly. If you’re booked on a flight operated by them, but under a BA codeshare flight number, your entitlements (including Avios & Tier Points earned) differ.
It’s all completely arbitrary at the end of the day. Don’t try and find any logic in it, because there isn’t!
