We arrive at Changi at around 7pm in the evening and then will be getting an onward flight the next morning around 11am. Does anyone have a strong opinion on a decent airport hotel option, either actually at the airport or close by? I am a bit dubious about the “rent a room by the hour” offerings on site.

We normally find they are expensive and it is nicer to stay at a normal hotel, get a proper dinner, and then get a taxi/MRT back to the airport in the morning. It was recently discussed in this thread https://www.headforpoints.com/forums/topic/where-to-stay-in-sin-1-night-layover-accommodation-recommendations/

Singapore is incredibly easy to get a proper hotel in town and get back to Changi. But if you much prefer the stress free stay at airport option then the Crowne Plaza at Changi is totally fine. It’s overpriced for what it is but it is very convenient. My parents both liked it too. But when my mum recently went with a friend and spent the night there, her friend said she would rather sleep in the airport then go back. She would not elaborate on why but she did say that she doesn’t use air conditioning so maybe found it tough to sleep as that was her first night in Asia!

I did however bash my shin on the coffee table at the end of the bed there in the middle of the night resulting in the second worst bruise I have ever had on my shin.

So maybe wear shin pads if you are staying there.

I’d check out the lower cost options from the chains e.g. Hilton GI Serangoon or the Courtyard / Aloft Novena or the HIX Clarke Quay. They’ll be 20 mins in an inexpensive taxi and much cheaper than the Crowne Plaza and Changi with the option to wander out if you fancy it !

Check the points cost at the crowne plaza. We got a good deal and it was so simple for an overnight stay

Yes, I was able to get a night there for only 36,000 points last year. The breakfast also had a ton of variety when I stayed.

Close to Changi you also have capri by Fraser which is good.

I’ve booked CP (on points) for September just for convenience. I think there’s some sort of renovation happening from what I can remember looking through reviews. That’s probably relates to what Frogee mentioned.

As posted above, certainly look at points. From what I can remember, it cost me just £100 (with the 100% bonus points offer).

The CP wins hands down for convenience and a 7pm arrival doesn’t give you a whole lot of time.

Do remember to fill in the online Singapore arrival form before you get to immigration, otherwise that’ll be another half hour wasted!

Yes also recommend Capri by Fraser. Stayed there twice and had a good experience both times. Decent room price for SG as well.

Similar to OP, was arriving in Singapore around 7PM and didn’t want the hassle of going to the centre to the back again at 9AM.

We stayed at Crowne Plaza in October for 37000 points. Travelled BA CS. Flight was delayed due to weather and there were long lines at immigration. Hotel contacted us in advance warning of possible works to egg ch we responded we onward travel. Works wouldn’t have affected us as we were only there overnight. But when we arrived they gave us upgrade and to room away from the works. Have been to Singapore many times so weren’t bothered about going into city as had 3 nights at IC Bugis booked for return. We looked at Fraser Capri (recommended to us) but was much more expensive than CP. It was lovely to walk straight to hotel and relax and sleep when we wanted. Breakfast was fine (free as Diamond). We felt it was a good decision and would do it again.

Sorry! …… to which we responded regarding arrival time and onward travel.

We booked the CP at the airport for 39,000 points for March 2024. Much cheaper to buy the points than pay cash. We arrive at 7PM and have 9AM flight to Hanoi following morning. In addition going to town you need to factor in cost of cabs both way.

Thanks for the advice all. I’ve booked the CP. A bit expensive but certainly the most convenient option from the looks of it.

Not going to help now, but Changi has announced another hotel next to airport. Could be either a moxy or Hilton garden inn. Just need to wait until 2027.

I was surprised at how cheap cabs are there, particularly when compared to London prices.

But even easier was using Grab – booked one just as we got the bags from the carousel, 2 min walk to the numbered door for the pickup and straight into the car and checked in to the MO 25 minutes later. Cost was £12.

(On a side-note, the early check-in desks at Jewel Changi are a god-send for late-night departures too.)

Ever heard of ‘minimum wage’? Ever heard of Labour protections?
