As title really, looking to understand the possibility here – one of us may not be able to travel on an upcoming flight using a 241.
If they can’t, it would make sense for me to chance the return flight to a more convenient day (assuming availability, I haven’t even looked yet) – so the question is, before I research too far, is it even possible to split out the PNR so my +1 is on another PNR, and then just use mine?
I’m not looking to get any value back from the +1 booking in this, I just want some flexibility and am exploring the options.
You can only split a 241 PNR and cancel the non card holder PAX (and get 50% Avios and TFCs back)
You can then amend the booking as you see fit
Bit confused can they not travel at all or just not on the return?
If not at all then phone BA and have their flights cancelled/removed and apply the 2-4-1 as a 50% off for yourself (if the voucher type allows)
Got it, thanks all. I don’t know if it’s a newer voucher so may not have the reduction option available – but no, they may not be able to fly at all, so this seems like the answer.

Depends when you’ll know when they won’t be ale to fly.
If more than 24 hrs from the flight then you should be fine but you’d need to call and be very clear what you want.
Don’t start by saying “I need to cancel”. You need to start with something like “my companion can’t fly but I still do …”
If it’s after the outbound has occurred then there is no refund but only a date change option.
And the companion is supposed to fly with the voucher holder but that doesn’t seem to be enforced but the possibility is always there.
