Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Stopping short on a 2for1

I’m thinking about going to LA with my brother this summer.

As I’ll be in Scotland anyway for our mother’s big birthday, plan is to use my economy 2for1 to travel EDI-LHR-LAX. But on the return, there’s no point in me going all the way back to EDI, and I’d stop short at LHR on an HBO.

Thing is, if I’m not on the final leg (obviously I’ll check in but be a no-show) will my brother be denied boarding or be deplaned?

The Ts and Cs are that voucher holder must travel, so yes, there’s a risk attached to this! I have no idea how proactive BA would be about this or even if gate staff would know you were both on a 241 booking though.

If you call to book, you can ask BA to route you EDI-LHR-LAX-LHR, then book your brother a separate LHR-EDI if you don’t want to risk it.

“the holder must fly” means you need to book for you (the holder) and somebody else. You are perfectly fine not to show up and miss your flight. I do not think the crew or anyone else knows you used a 241 to book a specific route (it is just a payment issue where BA charges you half the avios).

You cannot check luggage (as that will cause issues when you don’t show up) and may not be allowed to check it just to LON.

Booked a family holiday for 4 with one 241 voucher in my name.
I didnt fly back with my family, but they had no issues getting back on the plane from Greece.
