Has anybody else experienced the dramatic change in avios rates buying Sainsbury’s groceries via the exec shop? For as long as I have been making my home delivery purchases the rate was 2 avios per £ (occasionally 4 per £). Today it has dropped to a flat rate of 80 avios per home delivery! Am I alone or is this a universal thing?
I didn’t know you could get extra Avios for home grocery delivery, but yes it is 80 on mine too. Luckily haven’t missed out on too many as only just cancelled my Tesco delivery saver.
Probably in line with the decrease on TCB.
Think it used to be over £2 per delivery, now down to 80p or thereabouts.
More like 42p now on TCB! That’s harsh but maybe not entirely surprising.
They have been devaluing it over last few months was 3 points per £ for existing home delivery customers then it went down to 2 points and now this 80 points. My shopping always tracked always had the points post, but about 6 weeks ago I’ve had nothing, and I’ve not done anything different.
In a side note I transferred some avois to nectar a week ago was expecting instant transfer but no nothing, phoned them up apparently it’s back to 12 days waiting time.
Well … if you have a delivery pass then I suppose you could put through multiple orders at £40 to continue getting 2 avios per pound …
I’ve just noticed another unpleasant change: last week’s (and all previous weeks’) confirmation email from the BA Avios Store said “ Your Avios will normally be with you within 35 days”.
This week it’s VERY different: “ We will normally award your Avios between 90 and 120 days from the last day of your stay or policy, contract or subscription start date. On certain occasions, it may take longer to validate your purchase and award your Avios.”
Combined with the slashing of the award rate to a flat rate of 80 Avios, this is an extraordinary devaluation of the shopping offer.
sainsbury/estore have cancelled my last 3 grocery awards. around 800 avios taken off for no real reason. this is after 100s of awards over the last few years with only one cancelled because i used a money off voucher. all awards tracked and then were pending for a month (when im sure they did all their checks) and then cancelled around a month after being awarded (2 months after the actual grocery delivery). something very suspicious going on here
What a shock, my Avios collection is going to take a massive hit due to this change, but Thom, you make a good point, just get smaller deliveries every second day!
Raynerdam – I had this problem last year, but found a workaround on a forum. As follows: On a desktop or laptop, open a new incognito window, sign into Sainburys, allow all cookies, do your shopping as normal. Before checking out, open a new incognito tab, log in to shopping.ba, allow all cookies, click through to Sainsburys, your basket should be full, checkout as normal. This worked for me. Doesn’t help us with the devaluation though 🙁
My avois to nectar took 10 days to transfer in the end not 12 like they said. I also had a claw back for some nonsense of points. It’s like they don’t really want our loyalty at all.
thanks melty but it wasnt an issue with tracking. the issue is arbitrarily removing valid transactions months later for no real reason

The Sainsburys points? That’s exactly what happened to me for every Sainsburys shop I did through last summer. I queried it with BA but they were not interested. The incognito trick is the only way I now get Sainsburys points actually awarded without it showing as pending and then being withdrawn for no apparent reason
