Discuss today's stories:
Hi. This is my first post to the forum but I have been an interested lurker for years.
I am currently BAEC Silver status but soon to be a refugee to an as yet undecided frequent flyer scheme. I have achieved enough tier points to retain BAEC Silver status for another year from 1 April 2025 onwards. I’ve also accumulated about 500,000 Avios, so another OneWorld carrier is my current thinking. I’m working in the Middle East and travel several times a year to London.
If I switch my 7 upcoming BA long-haul return flights to Qatar Airways Privilege club, where I am only Burgundy status (with zero Q points so far), can I still have the lounge access and the 32 Kg x 2 baggage allowance because of my BA Silver status, or is that wanting my cake and eating it?
Apologies for jumping on the thread – but how do you switch flights to different airline clubs?
Could you wait til your status renews, then move the flights over to Qatar? Unsure if that would work.

.
There are dozens of threads on how to do this – usually mentioning the RJ / Royal Jordanian status
The Amadeus system is designed to allow you to enter two FFP numbers – one for its benefits like the extra baggage allowance, lounge access, advance seat selection, fast track etc. if you don’t have these by virtue of travel class. A second FFP number can be added for the accumulation of tier points/miles/Avios.
The problem is that although this is an old and basic functionality only a handful of BA agents know how to do it. I haven’t tried it myself, but I I’m told QR agents are pretty familiar with this.
The alternative route which many of the RJ birds are having to follow is to switch between RJ and BA numbers at the relevant moments (via other OW websites) when they require the particular benefit.
It’s a bit risky as it means the TP/Avios collecting scheme needs to be added at the last minute which can easily be forgotten or not register properly. Unpicking that is possible but messy and uncertain.
The lounge benefit is the easiest to deal with as you can show your card in the app for access without the number being in your booking which it needs to be for some of the other aspects.

I can’t seem to find how you can do this between QR and BA. I know how to transfer Avios but not flights
@jordanbmz – you don’t need to transfer any flights or anything like that. It doesn’t matter whether you booked via any particular airline or a travel agent, you just add the frequent flyer number you want to use into the booking. You might need to do this via ‘manage my booking’ on a different One World airline site like RAM.
You don’t transfer the flights, you change the frequent flyer number to whatever scheme you want to collect with. RAM (Royal Air Maroc) is one site where you put in the surname and PNR to recall the reservation to make the change.
Ok got it, understood. So let’s say now I want to earn status with Qatar, any future bookings I make on BA, I would need to put in my QR flyer number and the points should collect on that?
