Hello,
Has anyone here ever created a new BAEC account to change their BAEC anniversary? My parter has silver and I have gold, this is mainly because we are always out of sync when it comes to collecting TP’s. Ideally we would both like to be gold, considering we both fly the required amounts.
As far as I understand, he could make a new account with a different email in December, meaning his collection end date will be 8th Jan every year (same as mine). Then, when flying throughout next year, he will work his way through the tiers, piggybacking off my gold benefits in the meantime. My main concern is switching BAEC numbers over on bookings we currently hold for next year. I have read somewhere that we can do this if you login to MMB on a select few other OW airlines websites and change the EC number on passenger details (this feature is not available on BA MMB).
Has anyone had any experience in doing this? And if so, were there any issues? Am I also missing anything else that I haven’t mentioned? I understand he will lose lifetime TP’s but this isn’t a huge amount. Thanks
I can’t speak to the account re-registration part of your question but can confirm that changing the passenger loyalty scheme number for a booking works via the Royal Jordanian website (did this in the last couple of months for a BA booking to switch an avios booking from my BAEC number to Finnair to use my Emerald status to book seats fee-free). It used to work on the Finnair website itself too but I couldn’t get that functionality last visit as the site was under-going some ‘upgrades’…
Ahh yes just tried to change frequent flyer number on the Finnair website and it seems to work fine. Thanks!
There are a couple of issues – first is that you are not allowed to have more than one account:
3.5. Applicants accepted as Members will be given a Membership Number and may be provided with a Card. A Member may not have multiple Memberships. Each Member must maintain only one account. If a Member violates this rule, all Memberships (other than the first Membership approved by British Airways) will be cancelled, as will any Avios points contained in the cancelled accounts.
Also, there is a strange system of determining when your year starts and ends based on when you take your first flight after joining, so it would be difficult to get the timing to work even if it was allowed.
“Tier Point Collection Year”- means the 12 month period starting from the 8th day of the calendar month in which a Member takes their first flight as a Member of the Executive Club or, if the Member joins after such date, the 8th day of the following calendar month, and every consecutive 12 month period thereafter;
We used to get annoyed about the out-of-sync dates of our accounts but it can be fine if you always travel together, especially if one of you drops down but the other stays up, as you both benefit from the higher status whichever way round it is. Of course, if the lower status is likely to travel alone it is a pain.
