No mention on BA website. Found out when going up there with my two young children coming off a Transatlantic flight this morning.
Quite cross.
Closed for Bank Holiday – i.e. exactly when people are likely to want to use it! Let’s hope this doesn’t become a regular feature.
Send them your dayroom bill for hotel at LHR plus breakfast for all of you?
No law, but does no harm to let them know there’s a cost people are noticing when BA takes advantage of some ts and cs saying they dont have to provide what they promise and advertise. Ask for avios equivalent.
It’s annoying but I can see in the face of staff shortages that the arrivals lounge would be the first thing to get sacrificed on a BH weekend. It’s definitely aimed at the business travelling market who are presumably in short supply.
You could try asking for BA to cover a day room bill but I wouldn’t speculatively incur that cost as chance of getting reimbursement will be minimal.
Surely with small kids you just want to get home asap though? It’s not exactly a relaxing, child friendly environment in there & the food offering could be bettered in a fraction of the time from the M&S?
I appreciate that, as Rob keeps reminding us, this is a very London-centric site, but the arrivals lounge has definite attractions for those of us who have a longish drive home. Showering and having breakfast there is a great way to properly wake up and refresh before hitting the motorway.
I would have been very cross if I had found it closed today. It’s part of the package of services that have been paid for, and it should be provided.

Even if you live in London (as I do), I usually go there to wait out the morning rush hour, plus I want to eat something, as if I go straight home it will be 5 hours since breakfast on the plane and my fridge will be empty.

Absolutely. I would definitely complain – its got to be worth some Avios at least.
