Have you been affected by todays baggage issues at Heathrow? It would be useful to share experiences of how quickly people are being reunited with their bags. Where they were travelling to, etc.
Two of our five bags are still at Heathrow. Three made it to New York with us. Huge queue at JFK to report the issue.
Good luck to everyone affected. I literally have the shirt on my back and nothing else.
Standard advice is to make sure your phone number, email and and US address are in the claim and accurate. You should be able to go into the claim and check that yourself.
Usual advice is you can buy essential clothes and toiletries and claim back later. Keep the receipts.
As to how long it takes it depends on how many bags are involved due to the outage and where they need to get to.
In your favour there are lots of LHR-JFK flights each day so should be plenty of capacity to get them to JFK but then the CBP will want to examine them and it’s not always top of their priorities before they get cleared, returned to the airline ans handed over to a courier company.
There is zero point in calling asking where the bags are because no one will actually know as the update system isn’t in real time and all they can sss is what you can see in the claim.

I’m sorry to hear this, but “literally” is a rather overused word these days – what happened to your trousers and pants?

You have five bags and you didn’t think to spread your clothes around them at least a little bit?
Obviously an unwelcome situation, but I too couldn’t help wondering what was in the three bags that made it.

I did get a few funny looks on the plane JDB. Is it customary to wear trouser when flying?

Four passengers travelling for a month. We each checked one large bag. Each bag was individual to that person. The fifth bag (one of the ones that made it) was a bag of shoes and trainers shared between all passengers.
We are left with two people with all of their clothes, toiletries, etc. Two of us have nothing at all other than a selection of shoes.
@Tom such bad luck.
This might be a bit of an off the wall suggestion, but if two people have lots of clothes and you only have a shirt, could they maybe share some items with you to save all the aggravation of having to go out and shop and claim the monies back ?
The bags that missed the 16:15 departure to EDI on Friday were delivered to Perthshire by Courier at 15:15 on Saturday.
The family were irritated to miss their bags, but as it was their return journey, there wasn’t an issue and overall quite impressed by the prompt delivery of the bags.

Sadly, not possible. One of the bags belonged to my wife and one to my son, presenting a few size and gender issues if I were to try and use their clothes.
