T5 to T3 at Heathrow

If I am on a 2 leg flight where leg 1 gets into T5 at Heathrow, but leg 2 leaves from T3. Booked as a single ticketed booking before someone asks. I assume I leave T5 and go Landside to get to T3

However, do I need to collect my bags and re-check them, or will they be throughchecked from my point of origin

Not that I don’t trust Heathrow to cope with a change of terminal……

No – you stay airside, follow flight connections and then get to wait for a bus. It eventually arrives and then you get dumped at T3 security.

Your bags will make their own way to your connecting flight.

There is a bus to take you from a terminal to the other if you remain airside. Remember to first change terminals and then use the lounge on T3.

You will also be passport & security checked to enter T3 in case during the bus trip you have morphed into Osama Bin Laden

As above, you will go through security again so don’t buy any liquids between flights unless they’re in the sealed bags! (Unless T3 has got the new scanners now?) But you have to anyway if transiting T5 on a return journey, and we found T3 security much quieter than T5 at Easter. Your luggage will be fine, it’s absolutely not worth the hassle of collecting and rechecking it.

No passport checks, only security (and boarding pass).

Passport would be required if transiting to a domestic / Ireland / CI / IOM flight but these do not depart from T3.

I doubt a corpse would get through security, and if one does then it is apparently safe to fly, regardless of whether it has the right passport.
