Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Terminal transfer at LHR

  • 22 posts

I’m due to fly from Doha to London on Qatar Airways, arriving at T4, and then to Brussels on BA from T5, departing about 6 hours later.

Both flights are on a single ticket.

Will QR check the bag through to Brussels? Or will there be a pick-up at Heathrow for the terminal transfer?

Yes they will check it through so you’ll be able to transfer airside using the bus (follow purple signs to flight connections)

Thanks! I’d be intrigued to know if anyone else has experienced otherwise, but I am guessing they will check all the way to the destination.

On a single ticket QR will insist on sending the bag to the final destination.

On separate tickets QR will do it if you ask. In the reverse direction, BA will not do it.

@timrogers, you’re probably already aware but you’ll have to clear immigration and security at LHR even though you’re in transit, but it sounds like you have plenty of time between flights.

Security yes but why would they have to clear immigration?

No need to clear UK Immigration unless he wants to enter the UK and go la side.

There will be a passport check but it’s not immigration.

We always have to clear immigration when we land back in the UK and transfer to a domestic flight? You get spat out into the same security/departure area as international flights so I just assumed that was the procedure for all arrivals?

But anyway, it’s security that takes the longest and is the biggest PITA!

Well yes if your onward flight is within the UK you have to clear UK immigration – there is a separate area within T5 for it.

But if you are flying elsewhere – like @timrogers is – you dont and go via flight connections

Lol, this has managed to pass me by for however many years!
