Forums Other Flight changes and cancellations help Thai Airways still no refund after 5 months – can I ask Amex for a refund?

  • 8 posts

    Hi all,

I had to cancel a flexible ticket with Thai Airways. It has been 5 months now im patiently waiting. Thai Airways says that It can take 180 days max, technically another month waiting (refund date 5 Sept 2023). Is there anyway I can ask for a refund with the credit card company? Purchased on an AMEX?

    Many thanks

If it says 180 days then wait for that. Then from the Amex website you can find the original transaction and request a refund for breach of contract.

Keep all emails as Amex will ask you for that.

I wouldn’t wait. I would have gone back to them and said that I am giving them 21 days if I had received the original email, but it depends on what they have in contract of carriage/T&C. For example, TAP Portugal told me it will take three months for a refund once, there was no mention of that in their terms, so I told them to do it within 21 days or I’ll dispute the transaction. And I duly did. Needless to say TAP never responded.

This worked. Emailed Thai saying I give them 21 days or I will dispute charges with Amex. I received an email that a refund is initiated and funds should be back in my account in 7 days.

    thank you all.

Hum. I’d check it actually arrives and wouldn’t hesitate to charge back via card if the 6 months was in terms and is breached.
