At T5 today and it is like a zoo – haven’t seen this many people for years.
Now in the calm of the 5B lounge. And so time to reflect.
There’s not one person I have had to interact with who can be blamed for the chaos. In fact they are suffering doubly: because of their bosses’ decisions and suffering because of understandably tired, stressed and grumpy passengers.
Me, I am grateful that they are still coming to work. And really grateful I can still see a smile behind the mask.
I actually looked for the toilet attendant to thank her – the glow from her when I said the toilet was spotless ( even with the loo roll end folded into a triangle!) has made my day too.
Thank you everyone for doing your best. You know who you are – your the ones, sadly, getting all the grief.
Very well said.
Much like shouting at the hospital receptionist or the guard on the train, there have been a tragic increase in the number of people in the last couple of years taking their own frustrations out on an innocent employee doing their best in difficult circumstances; sometimes in some truly horrible ways. Well done for tipping the balance and I’d encourage everyone to do the same.
+1 – you’ve reminded me I need to email BA to tell them how great their human staff are when sorting out their utterly dire IT! What’s the best place to send such comments? As a front line emergency services worker for nearly 3 decades I had a LOT of experience of dealing with frustrated people so always try and treat others the way I liked to be treated in my own work.

Google “BA compliments” and link for the form comes up. I filled them out a few times expecting nothing will ever get through due to terrible BA IT. CSA & I recognised each other on USA BAEC line, and I asked you probably never got the message. CSA said actually I did! Was pleasantly surprised.
