    It doesn’t improve, does it?

I have spent the afternoon in The Concorde Room. I needed to work, but they have only three work desks, all of which were taken. I took over what is supposed to be a staff table instead (with permission).

Service is as slow as ever. My partner discovered it was much quicker to go to the bar rather than wait for at-seat service. Several menu items in the restaurant were out of stock.

All afternoon, we’ve been subjected to a soundtrack of modern American r’n’b. I asked could they play something with a wider appeal, and was told they’ve had other complaints but they have no control over it. It’s also being played at a volume that is too quiet to enjoy, but loud enough to annoy. It’s like listening to the tchsk, tchsk, tchsk leaking through someone’s headphones.

I hope the wi-fi password is not case-sensitive because the various signs cannot agree whether it’s “budapest” (which I know works) or “Budapest”.

Oh no – we had a great time there last month! We timed it so that we could have lunch in the restaurant, and got a very private booth for 4 of us at the back with a very accommodating server who kept appearing just as our wine needed topping up. The food was served very promptly and was very good. Hoping it’ll be as good in December.

The JFK CCR is much better – will be a shame when that goes later in the year.

I had a fabulous few hours there in January. Travel was quieter back then, but service was exemplary, food splendid and ambiance exactly to my taste.

The only issue I had was the damp spot on the sofa where I had spilled an entire Americano on the fabric. But I couldn’t fairly blame BA for that particular faux pas.

I swear the password has been Budapest everytime we’ve ever been in one of the lounges

It gets changed every month but on a rather unimaginative repeating rota!
