I monitor the Cape Town route and the only pattern I have seen (so far!) is that they don’t come down but when flights are released certain days of the week are much cheaper, but it does still vary!
Just had another look at UC flights LHR to BGI for November/December. Looks to me the UC cabin will be quite empty on the overnight flight back to UK.
Will there not be plenty of well-heeled cash pax travelling at that time of year?
I also had to smile when I looked at the seating for our MAN-MCO next month in the coffin seats – every seat on each window side is taken, but none of the middle ones. At least the plane won’t be in danger of tipping over, lol, at one point the entire A row was full, and all the other UC seats were empty!
We’re going MAN MCO next October. One of the two flights is an A350. Hopefully it won’t change as we’re on it. Returning from Tampa on the A330neo, hopefully.
For 7.5k points + £432 each, I really can’t complain about the seat! Plus the IFE looks pretty good and apparently you can pre-order your meal, which it’s looking more and more like BA is never intending to bring back!
A mega 700 k miles for UC return to Florida or West Coast is now the norm for majority of monthis in 2025
There are odd days and routes of course
As others have suggested Grab one of the good redemptions out of UK heading West and use Avios or Delta back seems to work
Like all things this year with the dynamic pricing the longer you leave it The less choice …Toronto still has UC in the 30s or 40ks one way in June building on Rob’s article on PE
Atlanta is 350k most months one way now in UC as per others ….in other words its gone from 75k / 95k return in UC – I did this with family multiple times in 2024 to 700k often So approaching 10 x the points for the flights – How VA justify this is beyond me but the demand must be there……….!!
You have to wonder if they know exactly what prices their algorithms are throwing up (apart from the staff at the CS coal face dealing with the unhappy customers). Anyway, the impact on numbers will no doubt become apparent as time goes on. I think Rob has a mate at VS, so hopefully we’ll see it here first …!
