Hope you make it Tracy, it will be worth it when you get there!

Thank you @Tracey, great name by the way but think you have spelt it wrong 😂

Good luck @Tracy. Hope you make it. It’s not yet worth cancelling.

This a bit like ‘Free Polly’ but instead it’s ‘Evacuate Tracy’. Fingers crossed.

Hoping against hope it all works out, it’s definitely been the most
nerve-racking “live” adventure since the days of “Tenko” Polly!!

@Tracy, there’s a thread on FT about LHR delays/cancellations which is being updated continually:

    https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/british-airways-executive-club/2103698-11-12-dec-london-delays-cancellations-freezing-fog.html

But yes, even my OH has asked if Tracy from Edinburgh has made it to LHR yet 😂
Tenko Polly, lol! Showing our age, @Michael! My mum loved that, we weren’t allowed to disturb her under any circumstances when it was on.

@MichaelC, certainly felt nerve wracking at 9.30pm last night after being stuck in the plane on the runway since 7.30pm for it to then be cancelled and head to baggage reclaim for the 2nd time in one day…

Ok, I get the hint…..less is more. But I love my self involved drama 😂

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the flight is showing an ETA into LCY of 15:32 which is going to breach the min connect time of LCY-LHR of 3hrs 30mins. However it is completely doable in reality so hopefully the system won’t bump you off or you can get back on the flight at LHR

@SamG, yes saw that, on hold on phone to BA….

Don’t worry @Tracy, this is very helpful for those of us on similar itineraries this week! At least we only have to get to the USA and have 3 weeks to play with but we may well have to be creative about getting to LHR if things continue like this. One of my friends spent 14 hours at MAN on Saturday and never got to her Xmas markets which sounds like the very definition of purgatory …

    🤞 you make your connection.

I see the flight is now boarding – @Tracy are you onboard? Did you speak to BA?

    359 posts

@SamG, after MANY phone calls to BA, mainly HUACA. We were given standby seats on 1.50 to LHR. It is delayed but hopefully will arrive in time for connection and bags are right through to MLE. Most stressful part was requesting bags to be offloaded from LCY flight. Waited ages & ran to checkin & through security again. I am knackered 😂.

Phew! That sounds like a much more sensible option. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly from here onwards

Thanks @Northernlass, I’m sure you everything will be fine for your travels. 3 weeks sounds fab, enjoy…
14 hrs @ MAN 😱. At least I’ve been to Edinburgh twice & Glasgow once, change of scenery 🙂

I feel for you @Tracy. I am currently stuck in Amsterdam. Flight to Heathrow cancelled tonight and I have another flight tomorrow afternoon at 1:30pm to see my parents whom I haven’t see for the last seven months due to work in Japan.

I have been rebooked tomorrow at 7:30am and need to dash home to pick up luggage (all packed up) and then back to Heathrow.

@meta, that sucks….hope all goes well with your early doors flight tomorrow….enjoy your night in Amsterdam 🙂
Couldn’t write this rubbish…..sitting on the tarmac at Edi. Flight to LHR delayed as no baggage handlers & plane needs deiced afterwards….good chance I’m gonna miss the 6.20 to MLE tonight anyway 😢

Nooo. not looking good unless you get moving soon, though usually they turn off some of the “chucking off” algorithms – no security coming in from a domestic so you’d make it if you can get on a stand and off the plane by 5.30 or so.

As it stands there are 3 seats left on Sri Lankan via Colombo or 2 seats left on Emirates via Dubai. Flight connections can rebook onto other airlines, as can the call centre if there is a big queue – try getting through whilst queuing!

Thanks @SamG, very helpful info….will do exactly that
    I can’t see those flights….just Singapore airlines

SQ looks full (and would get you there much later, it’s really a long way around!)

I really feel for Tracy. I would be so stressed out in that situation.

I really hope Tracy makes it!

Lessons for the rest of us?

Am I right in thinking that she should have presented herself at EDI yesterday and made BA take care of her? If they were incurring costs for duty of care, they might have made more of an effort to get her to LHR in time for today’s flight?

It really shouldn’t be touch and go whether she makes it today or not. If she doesn’t, then despite the weather I would have thought she should be able to claim compensation from BA, as (regardless of the weather) they haven’t made reasonable efforts to get her to LHR in time for her connection.

With the new Amex 241 vouchers and pricing structure encouraging people to start their journeys in the provinces, I can see this happening more and more.

Personally, I would try to plan an overnight stop at LHR at my own expense if booking a trip starting outside London, but then I’m very risk averse.
