I think she ll make it – she will be landing at 17.08 leaving her 62 minutes to connect…

    Or even 72 minutes…

BA doesn’t have anyone at Edinburgh – even at LHR their own staff can’t really do much other than phone up for you. So it’s one airline that turning up at the airport won’t put you at an advantage vs calling the call centre (multiple times if required!) until you get what you want. They certainly don’t give any on the ground thought to minimising duty of care cost!

Agree that an overnight is advisable especially during the winter months

@Oviplokos1 hope so too! not so sure about the bags though but with so many cancellations perhaps they’ll be efficient with the handling with the remaining flights. My sister flew out last night and said actually it was pretty smooth for the flights that were running, she got away with only a 20 min delay

BTW – fun fact – you flew literally over my house at 12000 ft!

Now we all know you live near Grendon Underwood 😎

Hope @Tracy does better than us.

Still in London, missed connection last night. The 0625 LHR was cancelled before we could even accept the change, rebooked on 0840 from City (cancelled overnight) then onto 1805 which was cancelled early afternoon. Now rebooked for tomorrow morning.

Will have spent longer in London than Milan if we don’t get the next flight we’ve been booked onto.

I’ve been following @Tracy and her travels…Fingers crossed for Male. Living in the Highlands our BA /LHR flight times are such that more often than not we have to travel down the day before or make sure there is plan B in place. We’ve experienced all manner of interruptions-Fog, snow, ice, no plane ( previous evening cancelled so no 7am flight) no crew, cancellations and strikes etc. it’s very stressful and ruins the joyful anticipation of a holiday. Tracy is holding up well, and thoroughly deserves to drink the galley dry and not move from her lounger for days. I hope she’s made the Gate by now.

@Stu_N, this is Tracy’s Travel Trials and Tribulations thread – you need to start your own dramatically titled thread 😀

(Hope you get your travel troubles sorted too 🤞)

@skywalker if I did it would probably be called “I think I might sigh” in tribute.

I think anyone who gets anywhere with BA at the moment deserves a very stiff drink!

If she misconnects, Emirates is still selling at least two tickets in Business Class for tonight, changing in DXB which gets in tomorrow afternoon. She should asked to be put on that.

BA61 isn’t boarding yet, so it looks like it is being delayed.

MLE is a bad one to get delayed with – @Tracy’s going to have to rearrange her transfer as well, hope it’s not a long one after all that stress plus a long flight!

Doesn’t BA have agents at Edinburgh? What happens if you need a hotel? Or refreshments? Phone calls and internet? How do they carry out their Duty of Care obligations?

Only their ground handling. I’m not sure if pushed if they can do hotels, they could likely do food vouchers. But BA preferred option is for you to do it yourself and claim back

Think I might have a lung that spontaneously combusted while running from the LHR flight landing to gate C53, I may have pushed men, women and children over on my way through 😂 Got to the gate and hadn’t even starting boarding…waiting on air crew arriving from delayed flights. However, I am now sitting in my seat, enjoying a nice drink and perusing the Christmas movie selection. Thanks for all the advice guys and sorry if I bored everyone to death with my travel woes. Hope everyone else stranded gets home soon….

Presumably there was “someone” at Edinburgh who put her on standyby for the LHR flight?

Agree with the night before – a night out with friends in London (or Madrid) is an essential start of our holidays!
