Excellent news @Tracy Enjoy your holiday! Flight departed 48 minutes late
You did not bore anyone and it’s what makes me visit this website. I always know if I’m struggling or need urgent travel advice, someone here will help.
I for one am extremely happy and relieved you are on the flight and can now enjoy the holiday. Also happy the HFP community have come together and helped you as much as possible. Have a great trip
Nobody suggested they were bored, anyone who wasn’t interested and/or concerned wouldn’t have read beyond the first post! As you say, this kind of thing is invaluable for future reference.
Indeed, any of us could find ourselves in a similar predicament in future.
Glad to hear you’re finally underway to your holiday and leaving the frigid UK weather far behind, @Tracy.
BA doesn’t have anyone at Edinburgh – even at LHR their own staff can’t really do much other than phone up for you. So it’s one airline that turning up at the airport won’t put you at an advantage vs calling the call centre (multiple times if required!) until you get what you want. They certainly don’t give any on the ground thought to minimising duty of care cost!
Agree that an overnight is advisable especially during the winter months
Doesn’t BA have agents at Edinburgh? What happens if you need a hotel? Or refreshments? Phone calls and internet? How do they carry out their Duty of Care obligations?
BA now runs pay and claim operations. So you are on your own! A ground agent showed me a memo about this in June.
@Tracy Well done! Enjoy the holiday and the anniversary.
I’m mentally preparing for a similar mad dash tomorrow.
@Tracy
Boy, what a drama. Only catching up now with your live reporting story. Makes great reading, even tho it’s been hell for you. Know you are on board now, and enjoying the comforts of turning Left! Enjoy the holiday, and so glad you made it….
Was actually remembering us both discussing whether we should do tests before going to the airport last Nov. You were in the states, us in Singapore. What a hoot… first world problems. Luckily, then we both made our flights….
Now we don’t know whether our SOF to LHR will even depart tomorrow.. fun and games.
PS. loved the “Tenko Polly” reference. Still laughing!
Glad to hear you made it Tracy. We successfully got to Southampton and took a hire car to LHR. Currently in the Renaissance hoping the 8.05 goes smoothly to Keflavik tomorrow
Everyone likes a happy ending. And on Flightradar24 I can see BA61 has just crossed the Black Sea coast of Turkey so all would appear to be well.
Nice one, @Tracy . Heading to Samui via BKK. Not as quite exotic as MLE but also hope for less action on our outbound on QR from EDI, (of course) luckily not via LHR. 😀
