Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Hilton Honors Third Party Booking and Points

So I’ve recently returned from a 15 night stay which was booked through a third party. I realised I was chancing it for getting any points for my stay when the hotel added my membership number to the booking but what I didn’t realise is that I also wouldn’t earn any points relating to any spend put on my room tab or for using the digital key promotion thats currently running, is this correct?

Another note to add whilst finding out the hard way – You cant use a second digital key if you decide to stay in another Hilton mid stay of another. I missed out on gaining the points for a one night stay in a Conrad as my app already had the digital key for my 15 night stay which as above also didn’t earn me any points. Very frustrating.

Hotels have to pay the centre for the points but in booking though a third party you are asking the hotel instead to pay commission to an agent. If you book directly you can get the best of both worlds – lower price + points.

Hotels do generally grant points for bookings received via certain third party channels such as FHR or Virtuoso agents on the basis that such guests are paying the BAR and are generally better than average spenders.
