Through check-in for separate award flights?

Morning all.

Looking to book separate reward flights from LHR-DOH on BA and then DOH-MLE on QR (and return). Saves about 100000 Avios doing it separately as I can use my Amex companion voucher on the BA legs.

Will BA check my bags through all the way if it’s two separate bookings? I don’t really want to spend 6/7hrs in Doha each way to ensure I make the connection. Would I also have any protection if I missed the connection due to flight delays? I think the answer is probably no, but just checking.

no they won’t and QR are known for having little flexibility if you did miss your flight with them

on the return QR will through check to BA

BA won’t even do it when connecting to a BA flight.
