Hi everyone,
Apologies if this has already been answered somewhere but I can’t find any topic…
I was booked on a BA LHR-GVA CE flight that got cancelled 10min before departure while we were all at the airport. I am rerouted on a Swiss LHR-ZRH-GVA (economy) in a few days but given where I am going to in Switzerland and the fact there is 5 hours connecting time in ZRH, it would be quicker for me to stop the journey at ZRH and not do the last leg.
Is there any chance BA does not grant the 40 TP for this flight if I only do the first leg of the journey and stop at ZRH? Asking as the flight was precisely meant to get me to my Gold renewal…
Thanks,
TarinIf I’ve understood you correctly you’re not flying on BA at all here, but on Swiss. I think this means you’ll not get any TP at all automatically. If you have a Swiss account you can enter your number on the booking and claim any miles in regard of those. You can after the flight contact BA and ask for original routing credit ORC, which will get you the TP and Avios you should have got if you’d have flown the original BA flight. BA won’t care if you fly one, both or none of the Swiss flights. What I’m uncertain of here is usually ORC is for disruptions as you’re travelling, yours is a little odd as you were at the airport for the original cancellation, but the alternate flights you’ve accepted are several days away, given that, BA may argue you’re not entitled to the TP. Regardless of any of this in BAs current mess good luck getting these TP regardless or right or wrong.
Thanks a lot. I indeed had assumed I would get the TP even if re-routed through Swiss as the cancellation was none of my choice but it seems you are saying that’s not even guaranteed?
You would need to ask BA for ORC – Original Routing Credit – for the flight with them you were booked on.
They won’t give the TPs automatically.
I think the tricky part of this is that OCR works around IROPS on the day. @Tarin situation is slightly odd that the reroute is a few days later, so on the basis of a cancellation and accepting a future flights. I’m not sure BA will accept OCR here, but no harm in trying.
