Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Tier Points needed

  • 3 posts

I need to get 60 Tier Points by the 31st August to maintain status.

Is there any way of doing this without actually flying, i.e. can I just book a ticket and not travel? Seems a bit desperate perhaps but just don’t have the time to take the flight?

You could spend £1,500 on a Virgin Atlantic holiday for a UK hotel. But you would need to do this very quickly as tier points credit within seven days of “completion of travel”.

I think you could book it for someone else so you could surprise someone you love with a very expensive weekend away!

Not sure I’ve got that much love to give!

They don’t even appear to have UK hotels as I was going to offer to let you sponsor a trip report.

I think you might be out of luck.

You could call Hols. and ask if they can book the Virgin Hotel in London for you, but that might not appear for them yet.

The only way that I think you can accrue tier points on a Hols. booking without flying is where you are the lead booker, but don’t show. You wouldn’t then earn the tier points from the flight itself.

Not got a 24 hour period to do a there-and-back to, say, JFK, IAD, BOS (or if you’re super lucky) CPT? Premium one way and any class the other would earn you your 60, with Premium r/t giving you 100.

“can I just book a ticket and not travel”

For an actual flight booking it must be flown by you (or your look a like / identical twin) to get TP.

For holidays “ Tier Points are only credited once travel has been completed. This means if you cancel your holiday, you are not awarded the Tier Points.”

£1,500 holiday but doesn’t need to be Virgin flights.
