Tier points with package holiday booking

I am looking at a Wendy Wu package to Egypt (they seem to be the only company which includes a trip to Abu Simbel) and want to upgrade to Club Europe. It’s considerably cheaper to pay their upgrade supplement than book the flights independently. However, does anyone know if I will get the standard 160 tier points, or will this be reduced because of booking through a package agent? I know BA give reduced points for economy bookings but wondered if anyone has experience of how they deal with Club bookings. Thanks.

They don’t give reduced TP for eco because it’s booked via a travel agent but rather give TP based on the fare bucket the flight is booked in, and the agent is probably booking low or lowest buckets rather than full flex.

So if the TP calculator says 80 TP each way that’s what you’ll get.

Runnerbean, Yes, they will, and that is my default option if BA wouldn’t give the full tier points. We’ve done this with lots of companies, Audley, Steppes, A & K etc – they book the tour but we arrange our own flights. It keeps the travel arrangements within one’s own control, and is always much cheaper than paying their rates for premium flights. However, with the general uncertainty in the Middle East, I thought it could be advisable just to book a straightforward package this time.

If you’re thinking of booking the flights separately, you could consider adding car hire if the overall stay is 5 nights or more, and get double the tier points (assuming Wendy Wu’s package includes accommodation) – just make sure you book the flights and car at the same time

If you’re travelling CE, then there’s no reduced tier points bucket.
