Hello all,
My wife currently has 1065 tier points. All done in last 12 months. 4 flights on BA operated and further three flights on QR but with BA codeshare flight number.
Her membership year ends 8th May 2023. Although she has met the requirements for silver tier renewal for some time now, her tier status has not renewed and card expiry still shows as 30th June 2023.
Just going through the forum, I see that the tier should renew immediately on meeting the qualification criteria and the card expiry date should change to 30th June 2024?
Am I missing something here? Or is it a BA IT glitch and do we need to call them to get this corrected?
Thanks
I’ve heard a couple of complaints like this. I think you need to stick it out until 1st July and see what happens. Wouldn’t waste any time on it until then.
Mine is the same. Think it happened to some people who renewed under the reduced thresholds before 31 December.
Same issue for me – card expiry is showing 31 March 2024, but I’ve got enough tier points since 9 Feb this year to renew for the next year, so my expiry should show 31 March 2025.
The current wording about changing status levels and retaining status levels on BA.com says as follows….
If your Tier Point Collection Year end date is in 2023 and you are eligible to upgrade your Tier status under the reduced Tier Point thresholds, your membership will automatically be upgraded once you have earnt the required number of Tier Points. There is no need to contact us to arrange this.
If your Tier Point Collection Year end date is in 2023 and you are eligible to retain your Tier status at the normal Tier Point thresholds, your membership will automatically be renewed after the end of your Tier Point collection period. There is no need to contact us to arrange this.
So my reading of that is that if you’ve earned points required to retain status, your dates will be updated at the end of your tier point collection year, if you’ve earned enough to move up a status level, this will be updated straight away.
Helpful clarification, thanks – so once 8 Feb 24 hits, my card expiry will change to 31 Mar 25, but will stay at Mar 24 until then.

This is standard BA IT behaviour – if you achieve a new level, you get it straight away and your expiry date gets updated. If you retain an existing grade, the app should say ‘you have retained silver’ but the card expiry date doesn’t get updated. It’s a nonsensical glitch and has been that way since pre-covid.
The Ba quoted guidance above is, I think, related to reduced thresholds and the oddities of retaining status part way through the year and is now largely irrelevant.

Yes, this is what happens. I re-qualified in Dec, tier expiry was April. Got an email to say I’d retained silver but nothing updated on the account, still said expiry April 2023. Once April rolled on, it now says expiry April 2024.
Bizarre randomness has happened with TPs though. Mid April the app suddenly shows a 520 deduction and 200 credit on the same day for the reset (despite ending the year with 560).
Suddenly this week it’s changed, the two entries have gone and now just show a 320 deduction for year end reset and I now have 240 TP for this current year despite not flying with them since last Dec.
Don’t understand BA TP math, don’t care, life is too short.
