Timing of gifted Silver status

My membership year end is April 8th, and my (Bronze) card expires on May 31st. If I were to be gifted silver status, which lasts for the current year + 1 extra year, when would be the best time to accept it? If I accept it now, will I be silver until May 31st 2025, or should I wait until June this year to accept it?

I’ve seen problems with this before. Do it before the end of your current card year (not membership year, note) and there is a risk it goes through for just one year and not two years. I’m not saying it would be impossible to get BA to fix it but do you really want the grief?

I’m not travelling before the end of May so I’d be better off waiting I think. It’s the seat selection that’s most important to me, but I can wait for that.
